Physical Description

1689318148_STEPHANIESTROUD.jpg.f02a1d7cf69745169b41c6e1232aa82f.jpgStephanie is tall for a female and long and lithe describes her body type too. She keeps herself in good shape too so she looks good in what she wears. Unless hanging around home, she usually wears makeup, loves to attenuate her eyes, her brunette hair hangs to her shoulders though she can also put it up at times, even the occasional ponytail if she is doing something like working out or swimming. She generally keeps her hair color as natural though on certain party occasions she has dyed it bright red once, oh yeah and royal purple too.  She likes to paint her fingernails and toenails, often getting them done at a professional place.

Clothing: It depends on the occasion. Stephanie has a large varied wardrobe be it party gowns, dresses, pants suits, and grubby tees and jeans for just hanging out. She loves to flaunt herself in one of her very skimpy bikinis, this girl is not shy. Fancy shoes, she's got'em but she is just as likely to be seen in black and white sneakers.

Accessories: She never bothers with a watch, phones tell time. She will wear various bracelets and rings again depending on the occasion. Oh and earrings too, especially for formal affairs. She even owns a jewel encrusted golden necklace if she really wants to act ritzy.

Grooming: While not averse to sweating when she works out or hikes or whatever other physical activity she is engaging in, otherwise Stephanie likes to be clean, look sharp, so proper hygiene is a value to her.

Traits & Characteristics

Stephanie could be described best as 'mercurial'. You don't always get the same person and the swings can be massive. She shows some sides of herself only to that very select circle of people she actually likes. Her few friends swear by her though their protestations of what a nice person she is are seldom believed by most others who often have to deal with the nastier, in-your-face, and hostile Miss Stroud.

In her good moods, she displays a sweet smile, a lilting laugh, and she can definitely be all charm. She was raised to show proper manners and she hasn't forgotten any of that. If she wants to she can engage you in fascinating conversation, be a good listener, and put her audience at ease. People are impressed by this Stephanie, no doubt about it.

Then there are her bad moods. She can be argumentative, confrontational, very prone to violence, and her language laced with obscenities. It doesn't seem to take much to set her off although alcohol is often involved. Her guardian, Uncle Mason, brings out the worst in her. To say the two loathe each other doesn't do the depth of feelings justice, their hatred knows no bounds. In fact Stephanie is quite open about her desire to kill her uncle, regardless of consequences.

Are you kidding? Job is a four letter word, she doesn't need to work, she's rich.

Professional Skills: None really - it doesn't take a lot of skills to be rich. One could suggest maybe behaving in public and handling public relations but Stephanie is a disaster at that most of the time too. A few of her confrontations with paparazzi are legendary, just check out youtube.

Education and Languages: High school degree, she was kicked out of an attempt at college not for grades but behavior. Two years Spanish in high school plus she's actually kind of good at it from conversations with the Hispanic help at the estate. She does not even have a drivers license though has been ticketed a few times for driving without one.

Self Defense: She was never allowed to take any official classes but surprisingly the girl can fight. She is in tip top shape and in a confrontation turned physical she can be very aggressive and capable of dealing out damage. She's also not the slightest bit hesitant to use whatever is on hand or close to assist her in a combative situation.

Hobbies and Interests: She loves music, well, classic and hard rock, alternative, hip hop and when liquored up loves to dance. She is a good swimmer. She loved soccer in high school and was on the girl's varsity team until she was kicked out for behavior issues, fighting in games.  She took up horseback riding at age thirteen and is quite proficient at it now. While this could not be called a hobby, it is definitely an interest, one shared by all the Stroud family it seems, Stephanie can drink like a fish, in that way she is a typical Stroud.

Life Events

You know the old saying "money doesn't buy happiness", well that could well describe Stephanie Stroud thus far in her twenty years of life. A bouncing baby girl was born to Caleb and Janice Stroud on Nov. 12, 1997 and named after a long deceased relative, Stephanie Juliana. Her early childhood was unremarkable and she wanted for nothing when it came to things. She was brought up in summer homes, expensive hotel suites, and especially the Stroud family mansion outside of Tacoma, WA. She had a nanny who saw to her every need as it seemed her parents were far too busy with their adult lives to dote much attention on her. Her father, dashing Caleb Stroud, personified the family way - life was all about wealth and power. You could never have enough of either the family's founder, Reginald Stroud, once had declared way back in the 1700s. Her mother, Janice, had been a trophy wife and considered herself a sort of artist, no one else thought so after seeing her work though. But as a youngster Stephanie was happy and active if naturally enough unaware of just what sort of family she had been born into.

It was in elementary school that some realities began to dawn on the girl as she not only became more self-aware but also wise to the world around her. Gradually she came to realize what passed for life in the Stroud family bore almost no resemblance to the rest of the world. Jetting around, living like royalty, treating the help like slaves, drinking liquor at breakfast, engaging in constant scheming and plotting to advance family interests - this was daily life for the Strouds. Even a lot of that was above her but far more personal and painful was realizing her parents didn't really love her evidenced in so many ways. Like the time they dropped her off at a friend's birthday sleepover and then next day forgot to pick her up as they had left on a week long jaunt someplace. Or the time her mother, after a drinking bout, informed her in a slurred little rant about she had not been the child they wanted, her father had hoped for a son to carry on the family tradition. It hurt deeply.

Stephanie entered her teen years, difficult times for many young people, and began to act up. Her grades suffered in school, mostly because of behavior issues for no one questioned she was very intelligent. She discovered boys too who definitely were willing to give her the attention she craved but did not often get at home. Thing is their attention was focused  on taking advantage of her money or her body. She had her first boyfriend at fourteen, though it didn't last long when he asked for a loan of all things. She lost her virginity at fifteen at a wild beach party, she had been so stoned on pot she did not even know who she lost it to.

Then her life took a major turn for the worse, if one can believe that. Her parents had left the mansion to drive into town following a dinner with the the family, they did not take Stephanie along. She was summoned from her room to her grandfather's office, at that time Randolph Stroud, ran the family empire. He gave her the tragic news. There had been an accident out on the cliffside road and her parents were dead. She was suddenly an orphan. Randolph assured the dumbstruck teen that he would take care of her, she always had a home here at her grandfather's mansion. He was in his seventies, a stern man and one capable of sudden bouts of real temper but he did have a soft spot for the girl. He kept his word too.

Caleb's highly profitable business needed care too, someone knowledgeable at the helm. Turned out there was a will which set up Caleb's older brother, Mason, as the guardian for the girl and also given the reins of managing the business too. As for Stephanie, she was to inherit everything upon her twenty-first birthday but up until then her Uncle Mason would oversee all financial matters.  Mason Stroud was a wise choice on the face of it, he was a highly successful if also predatory businessman who got results and made profits. He ran a no nonsense operation staffed by ruthless types such as himself where failure was not a viable option if you wanted to keep your position. He was already taking over more and more of the rest of the Stroud empire as Randolph aged. If the old man felt he was being pushed out, he did not publicly voice such fears.

Meanwhile Stephanie went about with her increasingly spiraling out of control life. She was arrested more than a few times for drug possession, underage drinking (now that was a farce considering it was the Strouds!), driving without a license, disturbing the peace, assault, etc, but Stroud money got her off without any real consequences. Then one day a handmaid approached her and asked if she had seen a particular article in one of the local newspapers. She laughed, like she ever read those rags. But the woman pressed the paper into her hands and strongly suggested she read it. It truly was an eye opener.

It was an interview piece with some auto mechanic but Stephanie soon focused as the article zeroed in the accident - the very one which killed her parents. There had been some ongoing law suit activity over the blame involved. Stroud lawyers claimed the vehicle had been improperly maintained by the company which Caleb had leased it from and that was why it flew off the cliff. The company denied any such thing of course and it had been dragging out in court as these things tended to do. Stephanie had honestly not been interested in it all until she read this article.

The mechanic, a long time employee of the car firm, said he thought the whole case was fishy. Turned out Caleb had brought the vehicle into the shop for inspection only the day before the accident. He himself had checked everything and there were no brake issues or engine problems. He signed the form too. The man was both saddened and surprised to hear of the accident soon after but even more surprised at the nature of the investigation. The police did a very perfunctory examination of the crash site, the coroner very quickly released the bodies over to the family and within 24 hours the bodies were cremated and a private ceremony held.  Even more odd, the vehicle was then sent to be crushed for scrap. There went any real trail for evidence. The mechanic also found his form was missing from the company files. He went to his boss but was given the cold shoulder. The only reason he had even been talking then was he had lost his job and was moving down to California to start up a new life.

Stephanie felt like for the very first time her eyes were opened. Her father and Uncle Mason had been arguing money and it had seemed her uncle wanted Caleb to give him a very large loan and the younger brother had refused that very evening at a stormy dinner table.  Stephanie at that very moment and even now became convinced her parents were murdered in an engineered accident. She went to her grandfather who listened, to his credit, but dismissed her suspicions with a rather cryptic  "Strouds don't kill Strouds".  She and Mason had never gotten along and now this escalated things to all out feuding. From then on she did everything she could to frustrate the man, she also demanded to see the will and her father's business accounts and finances even her own personal accounts. All of this was blocked though by Uncle Mason and his lawyer, a sleezy creature of his if there ever was one. She was instead told all would be allowed once she turned adult, turned 21. Naturally Stephanie suspected the worst, her uncle was draining her father's holdings for his own profit. But she was powerless.

She was nineteen when Randolph Stroud passed in his sleep of a heart attack according to the coroner's report. His personal doctor was puzzled as a recent physical showed the man's heart to be fine but then those things do happen. Again a hasty cremation and somber funeral as the Stroud family at least pretended to close ranks and shed a few short tears for the old man. Mason was now in complete charge of everything, exactly as he loved it. Stephanie figured there was only one loose end left and that was her!  She was certain her brutal uncle would no allow her to live to see her twenty-first birthday. He would see to it she had an accident or something easily covered up. Some people might simply flee in a situation such as hers, but above all else Stephanie was a Stroud. She would fight and she would do whatever it took to get Mason before he got her.  Yet thru it all they lived under the same roof, this was a complicated dance of death going on. Now twenty she knew the clock was ticking. Well, let him try, she'd be ready for his tricks.

That was a bravado borne of youth, whether she realized it or not, the odds were heavily against her.

Stephanie blinked and set down the coke, "You do?"
After hearing that glorious description, she frowned, "Holy shit. I'm not some pioneer chick. I like the current century just fine, no interest in the Middle Ages. "
"Maybe I should just demand they put me up in a luxury hotel? That's more my speed. I'd demand they let me stay here but Iike I said.......I don't want to bring any more trouble down on you. "
"But I'll be damned if I'm gonna park my sweet little ass in some primitive dump," she huffed.
  2. Stephanie Stroud
"Sorry..."  Kat replied,  "Are they all right?  Do they need a place to stay?"  Her grin widened.  "I have plenty of tents for over night trail rides, and there's the barn...top-notch accommodations, and a shotgun...Uncle Mason won't get here."
"None of it was your fault, nothing for you to be sorry for.  But it is mine. It was my brilliant idea to bring them along on my little trip. They don't have any money so I offered to pay for everything. I should have thought it out better and realized that my uncle might lash out at them too," Steph confessed, she genuinely felt rotten about it.
"But thanks for the offer, they're gone  though. Lawyer lady bought them plane tickets to go back home - where they belong. The war is between me and my uncle," she answered Kat.
"You won't ever see my uncle show up, he never does anything himself. He sends people to do his dirty work.  Lawyers, thugs...he's got 'em all. Speaking of which, if a big dude with a Russian accent shows up here, do not let him in. He is my uncle's main thug and he is as mean as they come. He beat up Louis.  He killed my dog. And I'm pretty sure he has killed people too. Shit, I might well have dragged you into this mess now too....not intentionally, but my two rescuers by bringing me here."
Kat now called out that lunch was on as she stood by the door.
"I'd love to stay here, you got a great place but I would only make it unsafe for you. And Lucian and his brother, Attila the Hun, want to take me to some hideaway on another island I guess. We'll see if I can stand it there," Stephanie shrugged.

"Coke!  I'll take a coke please!" Stephanie called from upstairs as she grabbed her few things that she had left behind. Her top (and cell phone) were still back at that rave place where she got kidnapped...wait....rescued. She would have to get another phone, the top wasn't important. Soon enough she was back down to join Kat in her kitchen.
"Ugh, I can't stomach cold pizza..........or warmed over pizza...........it's gotta be fresh and hot or it's not pizza," she made a face at the pizza but sat down for a salad. She ate a lot of those so she could keep that toned tummy of hers.
Sipping the coke between bites of salad she looked over to Kat, "Thanks for everything. This is a cool place. And I'm sorry you got dragged into this mess but most of that was the fault of my .............employees. "
"I know you didn't go into the motel room back there but one of my uncle's thugs really beat up my friend Louis. He threatened both of them. And little Ava is like the nicest mousiest girl you'd ever meet.  She is the exact opposite of me. I hate that almost everyone I know gets sucked into this death struggle with my Unky Mason. It's bullshit."

Stephanie was not normally one to just sit in a vehicle while riding, she liked to talk. Quiet was not in her nature. Still, the ride was pretty subdued, she couldn't even give Reagan any directions as she didn't really know the local roads and turns. Fortunately she did remember the name of the motel and that was all one needed in this era of GPS. Or maybe Reagan even knew where the place was on her own. It didn't take them long to pull into the lot and Steph pointed toward where their room number was. The three young friends shared a room, it had two queen beds. Louis slept in one and Ava and Steph shared.
"OK, shouldn't be long," she assured Reagan then smiled at Lucien when he got the door for her, "Wow, you learn fast. You'd be a great menial for rich folk."
Lucien warned her about the risk that word of mouth still held for her even if the police department was trying to shut this up. Frankly, she did not see how they could even get away with it. The rave had been crowded and umpteen people witnessed the so called kidnapping.  Whatever....beyond her control.
"Not my fault ya know, Wiley Coyote Super Genius," she laughed then headed for the door of the room.
She didn't even get to knock before the door flung open and there was Ava practically leaping onto her in an embrace.
"Oh god, Steph! We were so worried! I was a wreck," Ava bit back tears then blinked at the sight of Lucien.
"Wait! Isn't that....OH MY GOD!" the petite blond backed up horrified.
"Just calm, huh. Don't worry. It's fine. This ..................gentleman....is one of my bodyguards now," Steph grinned.
"But...wasn't he....huh?" Ava was so confused, a state of mind Steph often found her in to be blunt.
"Long complicated story that even if I explained it all right now, you wouldn't get it so let's wait til we have a few hours, chill out girl," Steph reached out and patted the other girl's cheek.
"Oops, almost forgot. Lucien, this is Ava. Ava, Lucien," Steph did the whole intro thing.
"Miss," Lucian smiled and nodded at Ava. "We apologize for alarming you. I promise you that all we wanted to do and want to do is keep her safe." He decided to leave it up to Stephanie on how much she told her friends about everything. He assumed they knew she felt she was not safe with her uncle.
"I do not get it," Ava was being completely sincere. Of course Steph would tell you Ava didn't get a lot of things.
J.D. came up behind Lucian and Steph as they passed by the girl and entered the house. He saw the wide eyes and the expression on her and leaned a bit in her direction, tugging his sunglasses down to show his eyes a bit as he said "Boo..." in a low voice before smiling and pushing them back into place and following his brother.
Ava blinked and backed up a step not having any desire to get in this one's way as they entered the motel room. She then shut the door.  She barely whispered once he went by her, "Boo yourself."
Steph and Lucian were now looking down at the nearest bed in the room or rather at the young man lying on it.  Steph knew him of course. It was Louis and obviously something was wrong.

First off Louis was not the sort to just lie there and let Ava greet whoever came to the door and then when it was obviously Steph, he'd have normally raced up to her in a joyous reunion moment. But he was on his back on the bed, head propped up on a balled up pillow, shoes off, socks off, and clad only in boxer shorts.  Was he sporting a black eye? On top of his chest and stomach were ice bags? Steph also noticed on the bed table an open bottle of Tylenol and a half finished  plastic bottle of Coke. He was awake though and he gave her his best attempt at one of his goofy smiles though it was plain to see he was in some real discomfort.
"Hey Steph, sorry I didn't get up. Not really all that mobile right now."
That's when Louis then noticed the men with her, "Oh shit. Those guys."
"Yeah dude, those guys. But don't worry about them. They work for me now.  I'll fill you in later but what the hell, dude?
You fall or something and what's with the ice bags? I think you put them over your eye," Steph frowned.
"Your uncle's douchebag security man...that Russian you hate so much...he paid us a visit," Louis wasn't smiling now.
    "Oh shit!" Steph snapped.
  5. Stephanie Stroud
Kat and Steph's conversation paused as they were then joined by her not-kidnappers now employees. Lucian didn't waste any time launching into an apology, not just to her but Kat too. Steph let the other woman reply first, while she just stood there taking in the sight of the two men looking fairly uncomfortable despite their best efforts to remain cool. She wasn't going to be vindictive. Oh, she was very vindictive about a lot of things in her life but she'd already decided they weren't her enemies, she had enough of those already. Well....OK, except for one little matter. When Kat finished......
"Apology accepted, Lucian sweetie," Steph smiled cloyly then her eyes went to the other brother, "Now I'd like to hear it from you, dude. A nice sincere apology  - that is if you even can get it out of your craw."
J.D. blinked for a moment as he caught up with the conversation. He stared at the girl, then his eyes went to Lucian and then Kat then back to Stephanie. "Excuse me...a what?..." He straightened and his eyes narrowed. "You seriously want me to apologize for spending the night in jail because of You??..." J.D.'s gaze rotated back around to Lucian. "You better have something to say about this..."
"Yes, I seriously do. You did not end up in jail because of me. I was dancing at the rave, didn't even know you from Adam, and having a good time and you and your brother took me against my will. You waved around that big ass gun of yours and for all I knew you were going to use it. None of that was my fault, dude," Steph countered with a glare.
"And don't look to your brother. He already did the right thing and apologized. Now be a gentleman," she crossed her arms and waited.

"Safe? Well, it was til all this shit went down. Now it's gonna be a newspaper article and whatever passes for local TV around here. That will alert the paparazzi and plus I think the authorities probably contacted my family ergo Unky Mason.  So I won't be able to stay much longer," Steph fully admitted.
"But right now I need to let my friends know I'm OK and get them taken care of.  I mean in case they wanna head back home. Their families are actually pretty decent...mostly," she added.
"Lucian's sister is getting them released now I would guess, she's some hot shot lawyer type."

Stephanie spun about at the familiar voice. Kat and looking chipper (that was a word her dad used to like to use).
"Oh hey, proof the justice system works, right?" Steph was hardly that optimistic but it had this time.
She also now got a ride offer. There was just one flaw though.
"Thanks for the offer but.....I really really wanna get back to the motel and see my friends, Louis and Ava. They must be all worried....if for no other reason that I'm paying for the room and I paid for them to get to this place and would need to pay for them to go back home again too," she explained.
"And....before you say anything, yes, I AM capable of having friends," she grinned.
  8. Stephanie Stroud
"Yeah, that's what I've always hoped and look how far it's gotten me so far," Steph sighed, but it wasn't this woman's fault that she had been pounding her head against a wall.
"Okay, Stephanie, take me through what happened at the rave from your point of view. After that, we will write up your statement and see about getting you out of here," Reagan smiled at the girl.
"OK, fair enough. Well, like I said. I told them I wasn't about to go along with them so they just immediately grabbed me and slung me over umm,  Lucian's back then headed out. The other guy I think hit or shoved a couple of people who tried to interrupt them. We went out a back way I'm pretty sure but remember I was upside down at the moment.," she smiled.
"Anyhow we got outside and let me tell you my tits were really nipply, it was cold out there," Steph continued, "We got to the car and Cowboy JD decides to fire off a shot with his big bad gun. Up in the air though, he didn't aim at anyone.  I was trying to resist as they got me in the vehicle and then ..........well, they took off like a bat out of hell and we ended up at Kat's place. I knew her because I had been there only a day earlier on my own. She rents horses to ride and me and her went riding in the woods. We even freed a moose baby...mooselet, whatever they call'em from being stuck in the mud. Kat is really cool. We got along great. So don't believe your brothers, I'm not a bitch to everyone. Some people even like me."
"Oh, and I could tell by Kat's shocked expression she had no idea they were coming to her house after doing this. She had no inkling what was going on. They just picked her place because.........well, it was out of the way I guess and Lucian knew her...somewhat. But the cops should never have taken Kat in. "
"I made sure that Miss Mercer will not be charged with anything. They assured me they were just going to take a statement from her for their incident report and then take her home," Reagan assured Stephanie of her friend's wellbeing.  "And a baby moose is called a calf." This time the attorney grinned at Stephanie. The girl was definitely colorful, especially linguistically.
"Oh, good. Good to know," Steph nodded, she meant about Kat more than about the moose.
"Now," Reagan again looked at her notes, "you did feel you were in danger initially? When Lucian and J.D. took you from the club? And when did you decide they were no longer a threat?"
"Well yeah, plus remember I was pretty out of it. But honestly, I don't know why they couldn't have simply asked to talk to me and explained stuff instead of the way they did it. Once we were at Kat's place though, they hadn't done anything yet and I began to think about it more. I mean think about it....my uncle wants me dead not kidnapped. Lucian seemed nice enough, JD though...I could tell he doesn't like me. But then when the cops came, I decided not to press charges and tried to talk everybody out of all this mess but as you can see it didn't quite work," she shrugged.
"It's okay, Miss Stroud. J.D. doesn't really like anyone," Reagan said. "I also think this situation is still going to be fairly easy to resolve since neither J.D. nor Lucian had ill intent toward you. Your efforts to exonerate them were also well-intentioned. Now," Reagan pushed her legal pad and a pen toward Stephanie, "if you will just write down precisely what you told me, I will get it drafted into a statement that you can sign and we'll see about getting you out of here. Meanwhile, I need to go see Lucian and J.D. I'll return shortly."

With: Reagan MacLeod Location: Kodiak Police Dept., Interview Room 1 When: May 2017 Time: Afternoon
Stephanie arrived at the police station then was taken straightaway for processing. She cooperated completely even being nice to the female jailer who had to do the perfunctory search and hand out her bright orange jail garb. God, that orange was so garish!  She wished they had at least had choices of colors but the jailer informed her that was not possible. She was read her rights of course and also given her one allowed phone call. Even though she had that card her one kidnapper now employee gave her, she used her call to call the motel and quickly fill in Louis and Ava on the situation. They were so relieved and Louis said he wasn't hurt but Ava was bawling her head off.
Somebody must have informed the lawyer's number on that card because Steph found out she had a meeting now with the woman. She was then escorted to a small room with a table and two chairs opposite each other and sat down. The lawyer would be in real soon.
"Would you like something to drink? Coffee? Soda?" asked the guard.
"Scotch on the rocks," Steph replied  but as fully expected that request was turned down. Least the guy smiled...just a touch.
Soon enough the door opened and in walked this woman, with a briefcase. This had to be her new lawyer.
"Hey! Have a seat. You're in luck, I'm telling fortunes right now...but I will need to see your palm," Steph grinned.
  10. Stephanie Stroud
Stephanie's brooding was interrupted when one of the men who'd gotten them all into trouble in the first place sidled over to the cop car. Steph checked out Dryer but his attention was elsewhere. Now what the hell was this guy up to? The man didn't say a word but slipped a small card thru the slit of an open window where it flittered down onto the seat next to her. She gave the man an eyeroll. Ummm, duh! Her hands were handcuffed behind her back,  snatching that up wasn't exactly gonna be easy. What the hell was it anyhow? A business card?
She decided it would easiest to just sit on it and then when they took her out of the car, mention to the officer doing so that she dropped something from a pocket and could she please have it back? Although come to think of it, if she was going to jail, they were going to take whatever personal items you have on you and lock them away, including clothing, then they'd have to change into bright orange jail garb. That's what happened last time she was arrested but that was back in Oregon not this burg of an island.
Well, she would get one phone call, they had to give her that much. It was like in all the movies and TV shows. She'd use that phone call to let Louis and Ava back in the motel know what was going on. Oh and to check on how they were too. Honestly if her pseudokidnappers had hurt either of her friends she'd change her testimony and by the time she was done drama queening up on that witness stand, the pair of them would be lucky to come away with 25 years in prison.
