Physical Description

1689318148_STEPHANIESTROUD.jpg.f02a1d7cf69745169b41c6e1232aa82f.jpgStephanie is tall for a female and long and lithe describes her body type too. She keeps herself in good shape too so she looks good in what she wears. Unless hanging around home, she usually wears makeup, loves to attenuate her eyes, her brunette hair hangs to her shoulders though she can also put it up at times, even the occasional ponytail if she is doing something like working out or swimming. She generally keeps her hair color as natural though on certain party occasions she has dyed it bright red once, oh yeah and royal purple too.  She likes to paint her fingernails and toenails, often getting them done at a professional place.

Clothing: It depends on the occasion. Stephanie has a large varied wardrobe be it party gowns, dresses, pants suits, and grubby tees and jeans for just hanging out. She loves to flaunt herself in one of her very skimpy bikinis, this girl is not shy. Fancy shoes, she's got'em but she is just as likely to be seen in black and white sneakers.

Accessories: She never bothers with a watch, phones tell time. She will wear various bracelets and rings again depending on the occasion. Oh and earrings too, especially for formal affairs. She even owns a jewel encrusted golden necklace if she really wants to act ritzy.

Grooming: While not averse to sweating when she works out or hikes or whatever other physical activity she is engaging in, otherwise Stephanie likes to be clean, look sharp, so proper hygiene is a value to her.

Traits & Characteristics

Stephanie could be described best as 'mercurial'. You don't always get the same person and the swings can be massive. She shows some sides of herself only to that very select circle of people she actually likes. Her few friends swear by her though their protestations of what a nice person she is are seldom believed by most others who often have to deal with the nastier, in-your-face, and hostile Miss Stroud.

In her good moods, she displays a sweet smile, a lilting laugh, and she can definitely be all charm. She was raised to show proper manners and she hasn't forgotten any of that. If she wants to she can engage you in fascinating conversation, be a good listener, and put her audience at ease. People are impressed by this Stephanie, no doubt about it.

Then there are her bad moods. She can be argumentative, confrontational, very prone to violence, and her language laced with obscenities. It doesn't seem to take much to set her off although alcohol is often involved. Her guardian, Uncle Mason, brings out the worst in her. To say the two loathe each other doesn't do the depth of feelings justice, their hatred knows no bounds. In fact Stephanie is quite open about her desire to kill her uncle, regardless of consequences.

Are you kidding? Job is a four letter word, she doesn't need to work, she's rich.

Professional Skills: None really - it doesn't take a lot of skills to be rich. One could suggest maybe behaving in public and handling public relations but Stephanie is a disaster at that most of the time too. A few of her confrontations with paparazzi are legendary, just check out youtube.

Education and Languages: High school degree, she was kicked out of an attempt at college not for grades but behavior. Two years Spanish in high school plus she's actually kind of good at it from conversations with the Hispanic help at the estate. She does not even have a drivers license though has been ticketed a few times for driving without one.

Self Defense: She was never allowed to take any official classes but surprisingly the girl can fight. She is in tip top shape and in a confrontation turned physical she can be very aggressive and capable of dealing out damage. She's also not the slightest bit hesitant to use whatever is on hand or close to assist her in a combative situation.

Hobbies and Interests: She loves music, well, classic and hard rock, alternative, hip hop and when liquored up loves to dance. She is a good swimmer. She loved soccer in high school and was on the girl's varsity team until she was kicked out for behavior issues, fighting in games.  She took up horseback riding at age thirteen and is quite proficient at it now. While this could not be called a hobby, it is definitely an interest, one shared by all the Stroud family it seems, Stephanie can drink like a fish, in that way she is a typical Stroud.

Life Events

You know the old saying "money doesn't buy happiness", well that could well describe Stephanie Stroud thus far in her twenty years of life. A bouncing baby girl was born to Caleb and Janice Stroud on Nov. 12, 1997 and named after a long deceased relative, Stephanie Juliana. Her early childhood was unremarkable and she wanted for nothing when it came to things. She was brought up in summer homes, expensive hotel suites, and especially the Stroud family mansion outside of Tacoma, WA. She had a nanny who saw to her every need as it seemed her parents were far too busy with their adult lives to dote much attention on her. Her father, dashing Caleb Stroud, personified the family way - life was all about wealth and power. You could never have enough of either the family's founder, Reginald Stroud, once had declared way back in the 1700s. Her mother, Janice, had been a trophy wife and considered herself a sort of artist, no one else thought so after seeing her work though. But as a youngster Stephanie was happy and active if naturally enough unaware of just what sort of family she had been born into.

It was in elementary school that some realities began to dawn on the girl as she not only became more self-aware but also wise to the world around her. Gradually she came to realize what passed for life in the Stroud family bore almost no resemblance to the rest of the world. Jetting around, living like royalty, treating the help like slaves, drinking liquor at breakfast, engaging in constant scheming and plotting to advance family interests - this was daily life for the Strouds. Even a lot of that was above her but far more personal and painful was realizing her parents didn't really love her evidenced in so many ways. Like the time they dropped her off at a friend's birthday sleepover and then next day forgot to pick her up as they had left on a week long jaunt someplace. Or the time her mother, after a drinking bout, informed her in a slurred little rant about she had not been the child they wanted, her father had hoped for a son to carry on the family tradition. It hurt deeply.

Stephanie entered her teen years, difficult times for many young people, and began to act up. Her grades suffered in school, mostly because of behavior issues for no one questioned she was very intelligent. She discovered boys too who definitely were willing to give her the attention she craved but did not often get at home. Thing is their attention was focused  on taking advantage of her money or her body. She had her first boyfriend at fourteen, though it didn't last long when he asked for a loan of all things. She lost her virginity at fifteen at a wild beach party, she had been so stoned on pot she did not even know who she lost it to.

Then her life took a major turn for the worse, if one can believe that. Her parents had left the mansion to drive into town following a dinner with the the family, they did not take Stephanie along. She was summoned from her room to her grandfather's office, at that time Randolph Stroud, ran the family empire. He gave her the tragic news. There had been an accident out on the cliffside road and her parents were dead. She was suddenly an orphan. Randolph assured the dumbstruck teen that he would take care of her, she always had a home here at her grandfather's mansion. He was in his seventies, a stern man and one capable of sudden bouts of real temper but he did have a soft spot for the girl. He kept his word too.

Caleb's highly profitable business needed care too, someone knowledgeable at the helm. Turned out there was a will which set up Caleb's older brother, Mason, as the guardian for the girl and also given the reins of managing the business too. As for Stephanie, she was to inherit everything upon her twenty-first birthday but up until then her Uncle Mason would oversee all financial matters.  Mason Stroud was a wise choice on the face of it, he was a highly successful if also predatory businessman who got results and made profits. He ran a no nonsense operation staffed by ruthless types such as himself where failure was not a viable option if you wanted to keep your position. He was already taking over more and more of the rest of the Stroud empire as Randolph aged. If the old man felt he was being pushed out, he did not publicly voice such fears.

Meanwhile Stephanie went about with her increasingly spiraling out of control life. She was arrested more than a few times for drug possession, underage drinking (now that was a farce considering it was the Strouds!), driving without a license, disturbing the peace, assault, etc, but Stroud money got her off without any real consequences. Then one day a handmaid approached her and asked if she had seen a particular article in one of the local newspapers. She laughed, like she ever read those rags. But the woman pressed the paper into her hands and strongly suggested she read it. It truly was an eye opener.

It was an interview piece with some auto mechanic but Stephanie soon focused as the article zeroed in the accident - the very one which killed her parents. There had been some ongoing law suit activity over the blame involved. Stroud lawyers claimed the vehicle had been improperly maintained by the company which Caleb had leased it from and that was why it flew off the cliff. The company denied any such thing of course and it had been dragging out in court as these things tended to do. Stephanie had honestly not been interested in it all until she read this article.

The mechanic, a long time employee of the car firm, said he thought the whole case was fishy. Turned out Caleb had brought the vehicle into the shop for inspection only the day before the accident. He himself had checked everything and there were no brake issues or engine problems. He signed the form too. The man was both saddened and surprised to hear of the accident soon after but even more surprised at the nature of the investigation. The police did a very perfunctory examination of the crash site, the coroner very quickly released the bodies over to the family and within 24 hours the bodies were cremated and a private ceremony held.  Even more odd, the vehicle was then sent to be crushed for scrap. There went any real trail for evidence. The mechanic also found his form was missing from the company files. He went to his boss but was given the cold shoulder. The only reason he had even been talking then was he had lost his job and was moving down to California to start up a new life.

Stephanie felt like for the very first time her eyes were opened. Her father and Uncle Mason had been arguing money and it had seemed her uncle wanted Caleb to give him a very large loan and the younger brother had refused that very evening at a stormy dinner table.  Stephanie at that very moment and even now became convinced her parents were murdered in an engineered accident. She went to her grandfather who listened, to his credit, but dismissed her suspicions with a rather cryptic  "Strouds don't kill Strouds".  She and Mason had never gotten along and now this escalated things to all out feuding. From then on she did everything she could to frustrate the man, she also demanded to see the will and her father's business accounts and finances even her own personal accounts. All of this was blocked though by Uncle Mason and his lawyer, a sleezy creature of his if there ever was one. She was instead told all would be allowed once she turned adult, turned 21. Naturally Stephanie suspected the worst, her uncle was draining her father's holdings for his own profit. But she was powerless.

She was nineteen when Randolph Stroud passed in his sleep of a heart attack according to the coroner's report. His personal doctor was puzzled as a recent physical showed the man's heart to be fine but then those things do happen. Again a hasty cremation and somber funeral as the Stroud family at least pretended to close ranks and shed a few short tears for the old man. Mason was now in complete charge of everything, exactly as he loved it. Stephanie figured there was only one loose end left and that was her!  She was certain her brutal uncle would no allow her to live to see her twenty-first birthday. He would see to it she had an accident or something easily covered up. Some people might simply flee in a situation such as hers, but above all else Stephanie was a Stroud. She would fight and she would do whatever it took to get Mason before he got her.  Yet thru it all they lived under the same roof, this was a complicated dance of death going on. Now twenty she knew the clock was ticking. Well, let him try, she'd be ready for his tricks.

That was a bravado borne of youth, whether she realized it or not, the odds were heavily against her.

"I'll try fishing, I did it once ....well, kinda. My dad took me along on the family yacht...I think I was like twelve. Him and his brother, Henry, decided they wanted to spend the day fishing. Well, naturally since it was Uncle Henry, the drinking commenced in the morning and by late afternoon both of them were plastered. Fishing went downhill even before then so I was pretty bored. Luckily we Strouds were prepared, they had one of the staff come along to drive the boat and he got us all back safely," Stephanie recalled with a shrug. That was a slice of life - Stroud style.
"I do like spaghetti - well if there is a decent meat sauce," she added her culinary opinion.
Surprisingly perhaps, Stephanie was also willing to help with fixing the dinner like Kat suggested so the two young women entered the kitchen even as Lucian declared he had appetizers available on a tray.
"Nice," Stephanie placed a bit of cheese on a cracker and popped it in her mouth as she eyed the kitchen. It was a very good looking kitchen, no surprise but it didn't mean the cooking would match, that was up to the human being.
"Kat thought we could help. Oh and I'd like a nice glass of wine with spaghetti....wine goes well with Italian you know," she remarked.
"Good luck with the wine request," Lucian replied dryly, "I do not drink alcohol. However, once the sauce is simmering, I will take you over to my parents' lodge. They might have something." He still disapproved of her drinking, but had decided that it was not his job to police her bad habits. No doubt, he would still be on the hook for providing alcohol to a minor should anyone find out, but Lucian would deal with that when the time came - if it ever did. "Do you want to work on the salad?"

Stephanie stayed quiet after landing then approaching where they were going to stay for awhile. It was quite the place even the millionaire heiress had to admit. These people had money and plenty of it. Lucian ushered them inside and oh yeah, the inside was just as magnificent. The young brunette gave a barely audible whistle as she exchanged looks with Kat.
"Extravagant comes to mind, ya know?" she grinned.
"Trap us huh?" she smirked at Kat's remark about the house, "Unless you can pilot a plane, it seems we are already trapped here in effect."
"Ladies, you can take my room. I will get what I need out of here in a little while. J.D. and I will take the two smaller rooms," offered Lucian.
"You guys spent all this money and don't even have any guest rooms?  I'd question that architect's competence," Steph commented but then nodded, "Anyhow thanks."
Much as she hated to do it, Steph found herself having to ...........geez...painful.........agree with JD, "Spaghetti sounds good. Hope you make a good sauce though. I mean no one can fuck up the pasta part."
The ladies went to check out their temporary room.
"Looks like we're bunking together..."  Kat remarked, "The dogs will like this, though...hope you don't mind a few fleas!"
"I don't mind sharing a bed with you. Besides we can make passionate love together," Steph grinned, "I mean you and me...not the dogs."
"So, which side do you prefer?" Kat was kindly giving her a choice.
"The comfortable side.........of course," Steph quipped.

Lucian explained a bit about the costs of a seaplane and how it depended a lot on variable such as age and condition of the plane, model of course.  But he did give some ball park figures at least too.
"Oh, gee, maybe I will get a couple of them then," Stephanie nodded,  she was joking of course. Not that she couldn't actually afford such things, she could - in theory anyhow - but she was just goofing around. Besides, her uncle may well have syphoned off much of her parent's inheritance to her.  It was what she strongly suspected.
Then it was back to Kat, "I absolutely do not wish to swim with orcas.  I am familiar enough with sharks from my own family, thank you."
JD then piped up. Oh she heard him alright - caught the zing at the end of his remark. Well two could play that game alright. She refrained from any retort, much as she would have loved to. Instead she turned again to Lucian.
"So let's get down to specifics. When we arrive at this place of yours, what happens next to me?  Since I'm the employer here, I think I have a right to know all the details of your next brilliant plan.  Oh yeah....one other thing. I'm starving....when are we going to sit down to a big meal?  You don't want Kat and I to waste away now do you?"
J.D.'s eyeroll was almost audible he suspected but any response he might have given was cut off by a beep from his instrument panel. J.D.'s eyes drifted over to the small mounted GPS unit. He sat up a bit straighter and reached over to silence the alarm. He glanced over at Lucian and pointed out ahead of them. "We're at the point to begin our descent..."
  4. Stephanie Stroud
Steph's razing fell on deaf ears, not that JD didn't hear it, he wasn't deaf afterall. Yeesh, what a grumpus. The guy didn't have a stick up his ass, he had a tree trunk, Steph decided, a bit miffed. Oh well.
And they were off, Steph had been on a lot of planes in her life so this was nothing new though this was only the second time she was in a seaplane. They were kind of novel and cool. Kat was her usual bright cheerful self.  Pretty much the total opposite of the dour private eye or whatever they called themselves.  She glanced at the other girl.
"You know if the plane goes down and smashes into the water, that's like hitting cement? And seatbelt or not we all die. Pretty ironic actually, now that I think about it. My Unky Mason would get his wish and this time he'd actually be innocent," Steph smirked.
"It is a nice view from up here though," she had to admit as she settled in to look out the window.
"Soooo, Lucian dearie, what does one of these babies cost? Maybe someday I will buy me one?" she mused.
  5. Stephanie Stroud
Steph just laughed, "Aha! JD, you lose again. You poor dearie. Maybe you should try and date me, seriously a hot girlfriend would really lighten up that grumpy personality of yours."
She then looked at Kat, "A woman of many talents. Including bird psychology......wow."
When it was her turn to clamber into the plane, she stowed her bags first then climbed on in, "Hey, do we get parachutes? I only ask because while I trust the plane, I'm feeling a bit shaky about the pilot."
    She grinned at JD.
  6. Stephanie Stroud
Steph was carrying her belongings, no where near as much stuff as she usually brought with her on trips but then she realized she was going to be roughing it. Besides she could always buy replacements when she got back to civilization. She was in a good mood, surrounded by dogs and her new friend Kat though she did miss Ava and Louis. But they were back home and safe.
As they approached the seaplane, the grumpier brother popped out on cue. Only this time he was angry at Lucian not her. Over a rooster too. Siblings. Though she had never had one, she had always wondered if she would have made a good sister? Eh, she was a Stroud - probably not.  The Stroud family was like a nest of vipers. She had to laugh now at this scene though. That and Kat's remarks.
"Well, if I can't have pizza then fried chicken sounds a whole lot better than raw fish or whale blubber," Steph quipped.
  7. Stephanie Stroud
"Miss Stroud, we can only agree to visits to Kat if it is determined that it will not endanger either of you. Personally,  I would prefer to keep Kat with us, providing she would agree to that. The problem with that is getting someone out to watch her place and care for the animals," Lucian told Stephanie. "Right now, we do not know what is coming at us. It makes it very difficult to know what course of action is safest for you."
"Steph, you can call me Steph, don't be so damn formal," the brunette rolled her eyes, these two were impossible, "And neither my uncle or his well paid chief thug are going to simply show up and attack me...us. That's all too obvious. Unky Mason's whole act is based on him looking innocent, pure as snow, and setting me up gradually. Then when he can't be connected to whatever goes wrong, that'll be when it happens. I still think he's setting his hopes on the whole insane thing..getting me in some out of the way institution where there will be an accident or even better a suicide."
They agreed to let Kat come along, that was something. Steph had not meant to take her away from her place and her animals but to visit her here. Still Kat seemed quite willing...make that eager to go along so she wasn't going to complain then. It didn't take her long to pack either.
Stephanie petted the two dogs, "Alright, looks like we can go now. "
  8. Stephanie Stroud
The one brother left then. Stephanie did not try to make him stay but she also had not indicated in actual words his family were really truly fired. She was making a point. Yeah, that was it. The first sip of the beer was good, though to be honest, she had always preferred hard liquor.  But one made due with what one had.  The more quiet of the two brothers eyed her then stated his views.
"My brother sometimes doesn't understand that not everyone gets a sense of fulfillment at doing manual labor out in the elements..." J.D. said before his eyes met hers. "...But I do know one thing.  Protecting someone from harm works a lot better when you care whether they live or die...and if there is one thing I would think you cared about in this world, it would be yourself. " J.D. glanced around then picked up the first bottle from the fridge, taking a long drink in silence.
"If you mean whether you guys care whether I live or die. I'm quite aware you have nothing but contempt for me and are only doing this because of your father...and maybe the money.  Though let me point out, I did say  that currently I do not have any access to funds so guess you'll have to rely on my word," she replied then took another big gulp of beer.
"And as far as to whether I value my life...........I do. I at least want to live long enough to see my uncle dead," her smile was telling.
Of course Kat, who truly was nicer than the two brothers and the heiress combined in Steph's opinion tried a little levity to lower the tension. Bless her heart.
"So, you prefer dipping your crabs in Cholula  Sauce over actually catching them and plunging them into boiling water?  Who would have guessed!"
"I don't even like crab. I do love lobster dipped in butter and I'm also a big shrimp fan too but I'm not gonna jump at their every order like I'm some menial to them. Not when they can't even let me have a drink once and awhile. Hell, I bet I could drink the both of them under the table," Steph grinned and drank from the bottle again.
She was a bit startled when there was Lucian back again. He had come back out of nowhere. Now what? Steph gripped the bottle tighter just in case he was back for round two and was going to try and wrench it out of her hand. Nope, not this time. But no, he just had something to say. As usual Steph listened, letting him have his say.  Now he conceded on the beer. Then made a very good point about the lawyer, it was true her uncle was trying to have her committed as insane.  He also indicated he believed her, that was nice to know. She doubted JD would believe her if she stated that water was wet.
He went on and she let him finish before responding.
"Pro bono...that's like for free, right? Or payment deferred to later," she guessed, "If I get my hands back on my parents' fortune, you will get paid, more than fairly. I'm not a cheapskate."
"As for terminating your service,  honestly dude, I haven't fired either of you or your sister. I just want to treated better. That's all."
He explained then in detail other possible options now on the table for keeping her from her uncle's grasp.
"I love camping. What I don't love is working on some fishing trawler ruining my hands. Oh, and another thing, I want to be able to visit Kat anytime I feel like it. Agree to that and I won't try and run off and do it on my own anyhow," she named a condition of her own then.
J.D.'s eyes widened a bit in surprise as he was not expecting her to put Kat in as a condition. The hundred headaches of keeping her safe around here flooded into his mind, but he could think of worse problems from their charge.

  9. Stephanie Stroud
Lucian suddenly snatched the bottle right out of her hand. How rude! He followed that up with a condescending comment.
I do not care what you were drinking under your family's watch. Here, you are still underage." He reached past her for a pitcher of cold water and poured himself and J.D. a glass. "And no, we will not be sharing a bed."
"Boy, this guy is no fun.  You sure you don't want to take your chances here?" declared Kat.
"I'm definitely considering it," Steph was beginning a slow burn. One thing everyone who knew the young woman realized was she was terrible at taking orders. Be that orders given by family or people in authority or certainly.....................employees! Which is what these two men now were.  They seemed to forget that. And then Lucian made the mistake of adding to the looming confrontation (even if he was unaware that was what it had suddenly become).
"I will put Miss Stephanie to work on the Invictus. Might as well do a little lobster or crab fishing, make some money."
    "Work?" Steph raised one eyebrow.
"Oh, seeing that would make all this worth it!"  Laughing, Kat glanced at Steph.  "And hey, at least it isn't negative eighty out, so it should be a cake-walk!  Just watch those pinchy-claws, I hear they can take off fingers in, like, two seconds!"
"Yeah, he's fuckin' hilarious isn't he?" Steph remarked the tone dripping in sarcasm.
"Alright, I think we need to get something straight right here and now. I didn't ask for this whole situation. I got it dumped on me. I got humiliated publicly when I was taken against my will, but then I went to bat for you dudes with the cops so you wouldn't get into trouble. And now you work for me. I have never thought of myself as a demanding boss type at all. You can ask any of the hired help at the Stroud mansion, bet they'll tell you that I'm the really nice one to all of them. But I'm not going to take being treated and spoken to like a child, " she spoke out, hands on hips.
"I want that beer. Hell, most underage adults drink. Take off the goddamn rose tinted glasses. It's one beer in the privacy of a residence not the end of civilization as we know it.  And if I can't have it, then I'm firing the both of you. And your lawyer too. And I'll stay with Kat unless she kicks me out.  Hell will freeze over before I will risk these nicely manicured hands handling crabs.  I didn't agree to hire you so you could tell me how to live my life or fuckin' put me to work in some job I have absolutely no aptitude to do.  Strouds don't do manual labor. I'd rather die first. "
And with that she opened the fridge again and grabbed that beer bottle.
Lucian thought hard about taking it away from her again. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he heard his father's voice say, "pick your battles, lad". Still, he was exhausted and his mouth engaged before his brain could stop it, "Suit yourself, Miss Stroud," he said quietly. "Thank you for  your intervention with the police. Kat, I will return in a day or two. I need a long quiet ride in the wilderness." Nodding at J.D., Lucian rose to his feet and headed for the door.
J.D.'s features had locked at Stephanie's display. He watched Lucian walk out and he knew he couldn't leave because someone still had to keep an eye on their charge until the situation was decided one way or the other. He then turned and watched her as she stood there with her beer.

Lucian had now entered the kitchen and immediately informed her that she was going to be taken to his own home in Hidden Basin and then later put on a boat. Steph nodded and grinned, "Ooh, you don't waste time, do you? Already inviting me into your place? So we going to share a bed too?"
But Steph also wanted to say something to Kat too, "Oh yeah, I'd like to stay in touch too. You got a nice place here and I love the horses, dogs, etc. Who knows, if my jailers let me maybe I can come back and we go on another horseback ride......minus the moose in the mud."
Kat was offering the two men cold pizza (ugh) and beer in the fridge. Steph stood up and got to the fridge first, opening the door and grabbing a beer, "Don't mind if I do."
Turning around she pointed out, "Come on, everyone, we're in a private home and it's just one beer. I was drinking hard liquor at the mansion since I was thirteen and my family knew it. "
