With: Vitaly Lysenko, Stephanie Stroud, Open
Location: Local airport
When: May 2017
Time: Time of Day (early afternoon)
The Cessna Citation plane had no sooner come to a halt when the side door opened and in a moment a tall man dressed in a dark business suit with shiny expensive shoes stepped out onto the tarmac. Even as he glanced at his watch, another man also clad in a fine suit followed him out of the plane, talking on his cellphone.
"The car is already here, sir. They are not allowed to come out on the field," the man reported as he shut his phone.
"Very well, a little walk won't hurt us. Have our luggage sent to the hotel. I would like to get going on this but we probably will have to spend at least one night here. Come!" Vitaly Lysenko snapped then set a brisk pace toward the airport terminal.
Mason Stroud had sent him to collect his wayward niece after her latest misadventure. Vitaly knew the girl well. Which is not to say there was anything between them but sheer hatred. He found her to be a nuisance, an irritant, and a complication that he had long grown tired of dealing with. Still his employer had forbade him to do what Vitaly felt needed to be done. But that time would be coming soon enough, the bitch was almost twenty-one. His employer had long ago made it clear that would be a birthday she would never live to celebrate. But for now the mission was to find her and bring her back.
Cooper Smiled as he offered the heavy paper cup to her. " The bane, just as you said. Man, I hate it, but, comes with the territory I guess." Cooper responded. "Can't do much of anything without filling out some sort of report. " Then he chuckled.
"You know, I was sure the Lieutenant was going to cut you loose." Kent Cooper began. "He's only been with us a short time, but from what I've seen he's a straight shooter. I knew when he didn't have you cuffed , I mean nobody does that. Well at least not here anyway.
The high risk situation defused quickly as all four of the individuals known to be in that house were now in custody. Of course to make certain, some of the SWAT team entered the residence and did a thorough search finding only pets. That result was reported then to Dryer. Not even a shot fired and everyone safe and accounted for, a good day for the police it seemed. The suspects were cuffed and marched over to one vehicle but not loaded as of yet. The two ladies were over by another SWAT vehicle. Now it was up to the man in charge on site.
Stephanie waved off a request by a department medic to check if she was alright, "I'm fine. Not a scratch on me. Nothing happened. I just need to talk to whos ever in charge around here and I can explain this whole thing."
Next morning, the case caught a break. A patrolling cop car out on a rural road was checking on some of the places - residences and such - on that road and spotted the vehicle that they had an APB out on. He wasn't going to simply drive on up by himself as he knew it was a kidnapping case. Someone higher up on the pay scale needed to make the tactical moves on this one. He drove past but soon stopped when out of sight and radioed it on.
Soon Lt. Rick Dryer was informed. There was a positive identification of the MacLeod vehicle parked outside a private residence which also doubled as a business, horse farm where people could rent them and ride. Further details of the exact GPS was added.
"Shit, real helpful....yeah. More like useless, I couldn't even slow 'em down let alone stop them," Louis blamed himself.
"Do whatever you can, whatever you need to do. God, I don't want to have to identify her body," he sighed and then Ava's tears became even worse.
Still there was one thing, he hated to bother the cop but..........
"Umm, what are we supposed to do now? I mean Steph paid for the cab to get us here. We...well, we don't really have any money, this trip was her idea and she paid for everything," he had to bring it up or they'd be stranded at this rave. It was too far to walk back to their motel.
"Look - we're Steph's friends, have been for a long time. She tells us all the time about how her uncle is planning on killing her," Louis tried to give the whole story in very short form, "Steph is due to inherit her parents whole estate and finances once she reaches 21, she's 20 now. Her guardian, her uncle, Mason Stroud doesn't want her to get all that and is going to kill her. Steph says he has been illegally siphoning off money from her inheritance for a long time now and all that shit is gonna come out in the open when Steph gets to look at the books. He is not gonna let her."
"Thing is no one believes her and right now she has no solid proof. Most people think she's crazy....as in you know loony .....I admit she can be kinda out there but she is not insane."
"Ummm, add? I'm not sure what Avis told you but our friend Stephanie Stroud was dancing on the floor when these two men came up to her and there was no argument or fight, they just grabbed her and rushed her on out. I tried to stop 'em but the guy who didn't grab Steph shoved me hard into the rest of the crowd. I got punched then, fell down, and some jerk kicked me. But whatever, I don't care - I'm worried about Steph," Louis answered.
"I don't think they are kidnapping her for any ransom - they are going to kill her," he quickly added, "You need to catch 'em fast."
Ava wasn't sure what that Indian girl had told the cop but whatever it was that got the man going as he went to a uniformed policeman and began giving orders. Least things were moving, they believed her and they were out an APB on someone ...........not that Ava actually knew what an APB was but it some cop lingo. She just worried it would all be too late for Stephanie though. It wasn't a kidnapping for ransom, these men were going to kill her as per her uncle's wishes. Steph had always said he'd try it someday and now it had happened.
Just then she spotted Louis coming out of the club, wincing as he walked rather gingerly. She raced up to him.
"You OK? They drove off with Steph," Ava practically sobbed.
"I've felt a whole lot better but let's not worry about me. Are the cops doing something about it?" Louis asked.
"Yeah, sure looks like it. Turns out that dude who gave us a ride to the motel the other day works for the cops here. See him? I told what I knew but ....damn, it's not that much," Ava sighed.
"My phone is stomped on, I can't even call home, can I borrow yours?" Louis held out his hand.
"Sure," she turned it over to him then.
